Engineer here. Actually more surface area wouldn't help break the window, you want to apply a lot of force over a small area. So really something extremely thin and tiny but with a lot of force would be best, like an ice pick. That would concentrate the force into a tiny point which would result in high pressure at the impact point and break the glass.

Both elbows and heads probably can't make enough force with a modern tempered glass window.
