cut the canvas and toecap off a pair you don't want to wear so that you just have the sole. glue the sole to the bottom of the sole of a pair of the same size, so that those shoes have a double-thick sole. tape and press it while it dries, then tidy up the gap between the soles somehow.

you'll get something like this. obviously you'll want to glue some ribbon or something around the gap.
