Yes, if you want a Daytona or GMT-Master II, watches that are made in small quantities compared to DJs, a shop will offer them to loyal customers, but if you just want a normal Rolex, you're waiting a couple months, tops.

When I bought my Exp2, I walked in with zero purchase history. I'd never even set foot in their parking lot before. I chatted with the sales girl for a bit, tried on a couple models, I liked the Exp2 and asked to buy one.
She said, "OK, no problem. We don't have any in stock, but we'll put an order in for you. We get shipments every month. We don't always know exactly what's in each shipment. So say it'll take about six months, give or take." I said OK. It took five months. Zero drama.
