I love the big guys but apart from Rick, Boris, and very recent Ann, a lot of the major artisanal labels seem to be stagnating. Tatsuro has gone off some kinda deep end, Damir is making his stuff more wearable and conforming to streetwear trends at the expense of creativity, Carol has been dead in the water every since Deepti left, and people like Geoffrey, Paul, Daisuke, and Yuichi are just churning out the same old styles.

I like to support smaller designers and labels because we need the fresh blood in the scene. Some of them have been hard at work for years but when you lack the infrastructure of someone like Rick it's often hard to get exposure.

Tsolo Munkh is one of my favorites. She's heavily influenced by her Mongolian homeland and it shows in her choice of texture-heavy natural materials and drapery reminiscent of Buddhist monks.
