Depends what kind you're looking for. You can get a nice entry level mechanical for that price. This is an SNKL43, the model I'm wearing right now. The picture doesn't really do it justice. $77.

Orient Mako/Ray is also nice. A solar powered Citizen Eco Drive costs about that much as well. Avoid Invicta and any other "fashion watch" brand.

timex weekender - $20
casio F91W - < $10
Casio has a bunch of other cool cheap quartz watches as well. They're especially good if you're going for a techwear/lunarcore/whatever look.

Seiko 5 series is pretty much entirely composed of dials with less than 40mm across. They fit my dainty programmer wrist nicely.

>I just wish more brands weren't so highly priced based on their own prestige and age. Even with all of the time, effort, parts, research, and training, there's no way the real cost of something like a Submariner is 7000-8000k. Luxury watch companies must do some amazing profit-making.
Like you said, the price is all for the prestige. You also have to consider the movement, which is typically fantastic in luxury watches.

If you want to see a no-bullshit flawless luxury watch where the price actually reflects the quality rather than how many James Bond movies the brand has appeared in, look up a Grand Seiko. They're all reasonably priced for their components and craftsmanship (with the exception of the gold one that costs as much as an entry level sportscar)

Pic related, just got this watch today. I'm slapping a brown croc leather band on it soon.

Got this coming in the mail to replace my lost SNK809. I'm going to put a brown croc strap on it, I think.r
