It's very interesting that you're suggesting that antibiotics would be used to combat S. aureus in order to get rid of an acne vulgaris pathology - considering that it's P. acnes and not S. aureus that's part of the established acne vulgaris etiology. The role of S. aureus is controversial at best. It's rather the metabolites of P. acnes, together with clogged sebum and dead cellular material, that acts pro-inflammatory in the pilosebaceous duct. Neither topical nor oral antibiotics are administered to target S. aureus when combating acne pathology. The only way S. aureus would ever come up in a discussion related to this is due to the possible genetic transfer of genes coding for antibiotic resistance, for example between both P. acnes and S. epidermis to S. aureus, which could then greatly diminish treatment options for dermal S. aureus infections.
