I definitely will start checking out thrift stores moving forward, but for now I'm in a situation where I do need to make time-sensitive upgrades to my wardrobe. At this moment, I need to purchase a pair of shoes which will impressed money people and are also worth the money: goodyear-welted, handcrafted, finest calf or cordovan, etc. The color preferably goes well with all shades of blue, grey, and brown.

From what I understand, Alden, Carmina, C&J, Enzo, and Trickers are the best makers outside of entirely bespoke. A ~$1000 budget is not a concern, but I also don't want to be a sucker and get ripped off.
