why do rich people buy cheap clothes?

I was hanging out with my parents today, they could easily drop $100k on a wardrobe and still retire just as comfortably, buy most of your grails (the reasonable ones), enjoy wearing shoes made out of actual leather, and sweaters made out of cashmere and so on for the next 20+ years. It wouldn't even have to be ostentatious versace stuff, just like top quality.

but nooo, Instead they wear 5 dollar tshirts, fake leather boots and shoes for like 10 dollars, made in china sweaters made of plastic or something etc etc. and stuff they bought for a few bucks literally decades ago.
