Yea that explains it then. Every watchmaker is guilty of charging considerably more for gold parts than their actual melt value as far as I've seen. Lange charges a few kilodollars for a gold deployant buckle for example.
Also small scale alligator as the inner lining is great, Did that for both of the custom straps I've ordered.

The concave bits on the side of the lugs are nice. I already have an imperial though so not particularly tempted.
Doesn't help that it took them over 3 years of excuses to send over a blue strap (which is what I originally ordered) for my imperial. Somewhere along the line one of the excuses became that it wouldn't be an alligator strap but a water resistant leather over rubber strap (the yue fei strap). So fuck it, I just ordered a custom alligator strap from a local shop instead.

Yea same, though the lange I'd want is an 1815 chrono. Saw one of them in person a while ago, pics really can't do justice to it to be honest. For now I'll enjoy the pieces I have.
