i find that 99% of tattoos clumsily disrupt the gestalt of the body. it reminds me of my mom's scrapbooking: over-embellishing a detail for its own sake, with no concern for its effect on the whole. and the people that tend to do it have shit taste.

it also seems to skew your perspective toward overvaluing capital p Permanence, which can keep a person stuck in the past, afraid of Change. but that's a whole other discussion i don't feel confident in my ability to articulate.

this is the most compelling argument for tats. and it's probably why the rest are so cringe, because they all feel tryhard and fake.
my friend has a tattoo commemorating his official naturalization as a US citizen, and that's the only one i like out of anyone i know.
