I'm not denying that designers experiment...
But given Gareh Pugh's background and where he was at that moment I don't think he had the luxury of 'experimentation'.
So no, it's a completely unreasonable conclusion.
I wasn't sure whether he was talking about the designer being influenced or the designer influencing fast fashion markets.
