It's a fabric that's both waterproof and breathable. It's licensed out for use by different clothing manufacturers. One of the stipulations of the Gore-Tex licensing agreement is that any garment composed of it must have taped seams. This prevents leaks even further and helps ensure the textile's reputation even further.
