reddit, especially mfa, just promotes the basics of menswear, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you have no idea how to dress yourself in the morning. Their biggest fault is their exceptionally strict adherence to their own rules, which discourages even moderate experimentation. Sure they're not as sartorially obsessive as Ask Andy, but it gives them the appearance of wearing a uniform instead of something they chose by their own tastes.

Also, a lot of good men's fashion looks effortless and lived in, which isn't really possible when your clothes have that slightly 'too new' appearance about them. This is especially prevalent when they talk about workwear.
