Yes, there's always some small brand/label that makes these boots and market these in the US, but like you said, it's really hard to find any good info (construction, materials used, etc).
Outside of the two I mentioned (Danner, Limmer), look for european brands. The ones that I know of that are welted:
Zamberlan Latemar (norwegian welted, leather lined)
Zamberlan Tofane (norwegian welted, goretex lined)
