Depends on the automatic, if you're looking at dressier pieces it'll probably be fine. Just check the thickness if you're concerned.
For other "business casual" watches at that price range you can look at entry level glashütte original, or if you stretch a little, entry level Jaeger LeCoultre. You could even get a Rolex OP for around that I think, but honestly my choice would be to save a bit more and find a JLC master control (picrel)
