Don't buy some ugly shit that you aren't going to wear just because it's <$10
>check the size
Try a lot of clothes on until you have a good idea of what fits. For me that's usually medium for shirts so I don't waste time looking for small or large shirts.
>check the brand
Look for something valuable so you save a more by thrifting. Go for Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, Brooks Brothers, LL Bean, etc. Ignore Walmart/Target brands, it's not really worth it since they aren't expensive to begin with.
>check the material
Sort of personal preference but I avoid synthetics. I usually look for 100% cotton for shirts and wool, cotton, cashmere or ramie for sweaters. Don't buy shit with stains, that's gross.

Thrifting is fucking fun and over the past year I filled my closet with name brand clothes in like-new quality by taking my time and only buying when I found something that satisfied all of my criteria.

Do you guys iron your clothes? I fold and hang them immediately after washing but I never iron.
