I've said this for years. They've kind of followed through with this for mids, but the OG highs they're still trying to milk like they're something special.

JB is in trouble... Not yet, but they see it coming. It's been over 20 years since MJ was with the Bulls and just short of 20 since his embarrassing stint with the Wizards. He's still considered he greatest by many (myself included), but his names not worth what it once was. People want Jordan's because they're "Jays", not due to the legacy. With Adidas exponential growth in the industry, especially the streetwear/casual segment over the past few years, they're putting a hurting on lots of brands, but JB is feeling it the most in particular. Adidas growth correlates almost exactly with stagnant sales of Air Jordan models.

Jordan's are losing their luster. They've grown almost too big for their own good, where today there is little special about owning a pair. Recently, Jordan Brand re-hired Gentry Humphrey, a former JB marketing director (late 90s-late 00s). He was at the helm when Jordans popularity and perceived exclusivity was at it's peak. While many die-hard enthusiasts hate this guy for what he did to the brand, bringing him back is a sure sign that JB is living in the past and attempting to recapture the luster and image that the brand had 03-09.
