i have an alpha industries m65 jacket. i want to remove the epaulets but ive never altered a piece of clothing before. do i just rip the small seam out that ISN'T the shoulder seam? will this allow the epaulet to come off?

What site/store do I go to cop good looking basics? After years of cargo's + band t-shirts, I'm trying to not look like a middle schooler.
