Don't just cop expensive clothes. Fit > brand name recognition, IMO. Go for quality as well, but a well made shirt from Brioni that doesn't fit looks just as good on you as one from JC Penney that doesn't fit either.

Drawstring Shorts and polo probably look like a pleb. Read the wiki (http://tuxbell.com/index.php?title=Men%27s_Basics)) and get a nice pair of shorts that fit well if you must wear them (because its warm outside) or some nice chinos/jeans will go great with a corresponding well-fitting polo or tee.
