the only place a shoe needs to hold your foot is across the vamp. it sounds like you bought a size too large or need thicker socks.

those shoes are definitely comfortable, i have rick heels and theyre a-m-a-z-i-n-g
incidentally they have loose ankles and it doesn't make them any less comfortable :^)
