If it:
1. Means something to you.
2. Looks good.
3. Means something socially.

You're off to a good start.
If it's something really common that means something unique to you, it's a bad idea.
If it's something really rare that only means something to a small group of people you won't be in contact with, it's a bad idea.
If it's ugly it's a bad idea.

Things that can make it ugly:
-Good on the page, not on the body.
-Will fade poorly.
-Clashes with your clothing or other tattoos.

Then again, I've never gotten a tattoo, so what do I know?
