literally how the fuck do i put a wardrobe together?
>keep changing what "look" im trying to go for
>cant keep clothing, end up returning everything i buy
>no idea what stuffs real value is, would prefer 100% cotton etc stuff but i dont see any difference in quality/comfort between uniqlo or sainsburys so i dont get whether to fork out more for alleged "longer lasting" clothes or to go budget
>insanely cheap so i keep reducing my budget more and more
>waist 28 and size xs so i cant easily walk into stores like m&s or matalan and buy cheap shit from there like my parents do
>dont know how many pieces of clothing a man is supposed to have so i cant put together a concrete list of stuff i need
ive spent 2 months pulling my hair out over it, and all ive got to show for it is a pair of white trainers, blue trainers, a new watchstrap and belt, and a single blue windbreaker/bomber. ive got no friends so im stuck thinking this stuff through my own, so can one of you help me with this stuff?

I basically have no fashion sense. All I wear are jeans and t-shirts, mostly ones of solid colors. Maybe I’ll swap the shirt for a button up if I need to look somewhat presentable. Is there a way to rock an outfit similar to this (minimalist, casual) but make it seem like I’m trying a little bit harder than I am? What are some recommendations you’d make in terms of fairly unassuming yet nicer jeans and shirts.

Had a bit of a debate with my girlfriend. She's a runway model and I'm a scientist (and Zen Buddhist, lol)

She is arguing with me that expensive clothing is better quality than cheap clothing, and also cheap clothing isn't as good quality as expensive clothing.

My argument is that a $15 100% cotton white t-shirt from J. Crew is of similar quality to a $100 100% cotton white t-shirt from say, Gucci.

How can there be a difference? In design and cut? They both look similar. Feel similar. Who knows if the $100 one will last longer than the $15 one? It depends on how well you take care of it. Is "Gucci" really using "different" materials? How different can they really be, if it's 100% cotton.

Is it worth paying $85 more for a shirt that's 10% softer? It doesn't seem worth it, to me.

Studies show that a $15 bottle of wine tastes comparable, or even better, than $100 bottles of wine in blind taste test. It's the expensive price that makes people perceive one is better than the other.

She argues that a pair of Levi's jeans, because it costs $50, can't be of good quality. I've owned many pairs, and I think they're hella fine.

Does increased price mean increased quality? HOW does the quality increase? What is the real difference between my $15 J. Crew t shirt and a $100 [Expensive Brand] t shirt? Is it really that big of a difference in quality? Most importantly, why should I care?

If I can get the same look for a cheaper price, with decent quality, and ethical production, why should I opt for the same versions that cost hundreds more?
