that's now how it works. overcoils, thanks to Bregut's genius, have indeed been the horological standard since it's inception.

today, manufacturers are moving toward photolithography silicon hairsprings. hairsprings which can be printed into a number of shapes. some shapes like pic related, achieve the same result and the breguet overcoil, making it unescessary. what's more - photolith can't make a 3dimentional coil like an overcoils.

so what did modern breguet do? they threw a fit that no one wanted an overcoil any more and created this abomination.
