Lang's color palettes largely consisted of blacks, whites, and neutrals, sometimes with contrasting stripes, blocks, or slashes of color.

It's crazy to me that something only ten years old could ever be lost to us. I mean the internet seems like this vast, even infinite space where everything exists if you search hard enough, but things like editorials show that to be false.

Print media is becoming lost because of the digital revolution. I can't even find out when that Panos special for V mag came out. I doubt I could find the complete scans of Melanie Ward years including the text pages. It's sad to me that there is beauty that is not being saved.

Excuse the grey bars. Most of these are two page spreads and whoever scanned this didn't take the time to edit. Too lazy to scan my copy or edit these ones.

He stopped designing clothing nine years ago. Anything released under the Helmut Lang name since 2005 has nothing to do with the man himself. Helmut was at the top of his game when he left the industry, which is a shame, but I think his attitude toward his departure is admirable. He never wanted to compromise his own integrity for a brand, so he walked away.

That being said, since Alexandre Plokhov took over Helmut Lang menswear, it's definitely improved. It's not Helmut, but it feels like a continuation of Plokhov's Cloak work with minimal sharp looks, which is not really the direction he's taken his own label.

Helmut Lang A/W03. Good luck finding one though.
