The thing is, fashion then didn't distinguish that much between ages. Kids were just seen as small-adults and the phenomenon of the teenager/adolescent wasn't even invented if I recall correctly.

If the climate and context of the play allow it you might want to drop the coat. Dark gray or some brownish (maybe even blue or green) hue for the waistcoat might indeed be better but I'm sure the cravat would offset the waiter-thing a bit.
Folding the shirtsleeve a bit messily might help to get it a bit more informal, but I'm afraid it might be too informal or not that correct for the period.
