It really depends on where you live. I live in SW Washington state and the Fall and Winter here is perfect for wearing a flannel/hoodie with a down vest. Whenever I wear a full winter jacket here, it’s just too hot, whereas the down vest strikes that perfect balance of retaining heat in my core. Since the temperatures here average out about 40 F during the winter here, my arms don’t really get cold enough to wear a full puffer jacket. This entire contrarian opinion on vests being gay is a completely made up opinion that literally only exists on this forum
