Well, I'm not 100% against it, as you can see from my list (Kenzo, Céline & Comme des Garçons), but they all have their reasons, Kenzo and Céline because yeah, no real tangible connection to them and I'm somewhat of a hypocrite, and CdG because they will continue to do great things with or without Rei, she's just a catalyst.
I'm not saying that the stuff new designers are producing is worthless, what I'm saying is rather than continuing to exploit the legacy of a brand by trying to replicate its past glory (see early non-Helmut Helmut) or do something else under the shadow of the old designer that won't be anywhere near as well received, new designers with new voices should establish their own lines. I much prefer seeing Siki Im putting out his own line than I would seeing him do Helmut post-Helmut.
I know fashion is a business and all but it just seems really avaricious to me: unfair to the old designer and their legacy, and unfair to the new head and the team.
But yeah, I guess that's just how fashion works, and everyone will applaud what Raf's doing at Dior and so on.
