they're popular because they're gateway fashion brands that are expensive enough to make the teenagers on here feel exclusive and more informed than their troglodyte friends, but cheap enough that they can afford them on their weekly allowance or their meager part time college job.

not that those brands are necessarily horrible, but dont presume /fa/s infatuation is rooted in anything more than their accessibility.

Well, I know for sure that the blueish raf simons tag (the pic related bomber has it) was used in ss97 (teenage summer camp) and there are really similar jackets/bombers like that in aw96/97 but i don't know for sure if they used the blue tag in that season as i haven't handled anything from that collection but they did make very similar jackets in that collection, but then again raf made a lot of bombers/jackets like this from 96 - 2000
