Yes, those are the ones that cause zero problems if you just put them on and start walking. If you're unsure see if you can find an old battered pair - you can fit a euro 42 so you can just buy a womens pair in a style that's going cheap and try them out.

I'm sure you can remove patch pockets, but it's probably more effort than it's worth. Even the british wool shirts always have them as a matter of course.

As far as trousers over the top, maybe with the Galway boot. They're quite tight to the leg even at the top, and I think you can even get them in a slim version. The other styles tend to have a pointed oval shape and that won't work well I don't think.
