I think it is really that simple.
Obviously if its poorly oiled then this is just delaying the inevitable of needing a service.

It ran like that out of the box. I wouldn't exactly say I was lucky as the case was visibly miscut and I had to polish it for hours to get it symmetrical.
Ultimately quality control has never been great and I imagine it's worse these days with everything.
