overly tall heeled shoes and formal "Victorian" styled attire is really quite passe and not actually utilitarian, we live in a fast paced utilitarian society, with concrete streets and sidewalks. not an early industrial mud road where there was actually a purpose to the heels and the entire "heeled" thing. running shoes/ bball shoes, really they are just shoes made for walking or running or some other physical activity which is what most people are doing most of the time in the city
