"leather jacket" are a wide range of different cuts and styles that only have the material in common
"peacoat" is one style and for the most part they all look pretty much the same

I see where twerk is coming from, but I don't necessarily agree with what he's saying. Essentially, he's just reducing clothes to aesthetic appeal, which to me seems far too basic. If you see "having the money to spend on it and the body to fit in it" as the only prerequisites to actually appreciating a designer's work, that's completely disregarding any kind of appreciation of the designer's concepts. Clothing might not be art, but can be as much self-expression as painting or music. Taking clothes at surface value disregards any sort of emotional or conceptual investment the designer has made into the work, and avoids the issue of understanding and any kind of critical approach for a mind-numbing acceptance and perhaps appreciation. Why curtail the emotional or intellectual response we can get from a collection?
I don't think it's a matter of "authenticity" in wearing clothes, I think it's a matter of understanding. You might say the only prerequisite for reading a certain book is being literate and having the money to buy said book, but without looking at it critically and having some prior knowledge about anything, any sort of allusion, subtext or intrinsic meaning will just fly by you, all you'll have to appreciate is the prose.
I don't see why you'd be content with an ignorant viewpoint when you have so many resources available to you to learn more about designers and their work that will lead to a higher understanding, and at least personally to me, a higher level of appreciation.

Thom Browne manages seamless appeal to pretty much everyone from young asian teenagers to older western men just due to the strength of his vision and execution. It'd be great to see Rick have fans like that.

There's both Undercover and Raf in this editorial, just look closely! I can see what I can do as well.

You can wear "luxury" clothes even when your life is relatively removed from luxury. I like nice clothes, I wear them everywhere from grocery shopping to going to the pharmacy, because I own nice clothes and I feel comfortable wearing them. Is that concept really too hard to grasp?
