In light of Yahoo's acquisition of Tumblr, I started thinking about what makes Tumblr appealing. I just don't see it. It seems literally "dumb"--images in a space devoid of content, with the most superficial of context, without reflection or any meaningful feedback. So, what's the appeal? Is it just the addiction of self promotion combined with a digital version of taping posters on your bedroom wall?
