I'm pretty happy with mine. Had it for three years now without issue, and it's a really nicely built and finished watch. Mine is one of the older ETA movement models and not one of the ones with an in house movement though. (Personally I don't mind that, in a way I'd rather have the ETA with a niche brand like this than a rare in-house movement nobody knows how to service.) They've moved more toward chunky tool watches since I bought mine and I've never even seen one of those in person so I'm honestly not sure what they're like now.

As >>15390699 says, the tritium might be an issue. Mine is probably ~4 years old and still good but I'm definitely not looking forward to getting it redone. I've heard that realistically it's more like 10 years before replacement, they say 7 years but that's just until it falls below a certain brightness level and it's still usable for a few years after that. (And that's a general thing with tritium watches, not unique to Ball.)

Take a look at Ball. I've had one for a couple of years and really like it. They're really nicely finished for the money and the whole tritium thing is pretty cool. Most models use ETAs but they've got an in-house movement now too.

I disagree. Trends change and the original Explorer just looks too small by modern standards. I wear a 40mm "Explorer-style" watch and I think it sits on a modern wrist the way a 36mm would have fit when the Explorer was new, if that makes sense.

That's because you're 20 and the people around you haven't started dressing like adults yet. Don't get me wrong, that's fine and normal, and buying the kind of watch we like in these threads will probably make you look like a dork. My advice is to wait a few years before trying to buy any "serious" watches, and for now just get something you think looks cool and which is inexpensive enough that you won't mind giving up on it when your style changes in a few years. (Nordstrom Rack and Costco are good places to look for deals on these kinds of fashion watches, btw.)

Ball Engineer II Arabic COSC here. Just got the leather strap today and I'm amazed at how "right" it feels on the watch, I liked it a lot on the factory stainless bracelet but this is a major improvement.
