i mean, sure, your eye for technical detailing is weaker if you don't come from a technical background. And sure, rick, helmut, yohji, issey, sruli, gbs whatever all have some degree of technical background.

but there have also been producers like altieri who have taught themselves almost entirely, or atleast without glamorising some sort of academic portfolio while also proving himself as one of most important creators in the last 20years.

and then there also designers like raf, tom ford, rei who don't really come from a typical clothing technical background.

but let's also not forget that there is at least 30years (spanning from 1980s to now (rei's reign)) which has proven that a technical foundation is not neccessary for a successful fashion house.
