SOTD: D. Grayi Alter Oud. Notes in pic related tell the story quite well. I can just add that the oud note is just deep woody without any skankiness (as expected from vietnamise oud). Good (and unsual) stuff. What are you wearing lads?

Yup, lots of good memories associated with that frag. I still kept using it occassionally when I got much deeper into niche. YSL L'Homme + Nicolai Cuir Cuba Intense is still the best layering combo I've come up with in my opinion.

Tl;dr it's a social and cultural construct. Arabs wear their heaviest ouds and roses in 40C heat. In the West, ambers, spices, incense and gourmand notes are associated with winter scents, and citruses and other fresh notes with summer scents. Roughly. Just trust your nose but also do not worry too much about it. I used to be fond of wearing LDDM in summer and was getting compliments for it. It doesn't matter that much as long as you don't overspray heavily.
