I might be the wrong person to ask since I usually just keep it very simple and very boring, but besides obviously wearing a flannel, denim vest/jacket, a leather jacket/vest, you can just incorporate your own personal style into it. Long hair will help sell the look, facial hair will make you look like less of a fag. Also lets say for example you're a southern chad, idk you can try to incorporate a bandana somewhere, your head or something idk, black cowboy hat too I guess
in general a lot of metalheads who don't like long sleeves have some tats, those leather cuffs/bracelets, the long ones, maybe spiked or studded depending on how hard you wanna take the fit, chain bracelets work too. For neckwear it's similar, can wear like idk a cross necklace or something similar, chains, those gay razorblade things. Your pants can be black denim or worn classic blue, maybe some leather pants if you wanna get fancy, and you can accessorize them with chains if you want as well

and if you wanna look like a very clean and fashionable metal chad, just copy roy khan's old look (like when he was still back in kamelot), that dude is a fashion god. You can also just CHAD out, be like peter steele, and just LIFT LIFT LIFT, and just become a fit gothchad metal GOD and ascend the need for fancy fashion and just wear wife beaters nonstop
