Instead, point your body in another direction so you're turning your head to the stranger. This will make you come across friendly in a non-threatening way. Play around with this. If you stand really close to a stranger with your body completely facing him/her, it probably feels awkward. The other person feels that too. When it comes to beautiful women, many guys unconsciously do this as they are really interested in the woman. This makes the woman feel uncomfortable while the guy isn't even aware of what he is doing. You'll even notice that it feels 'safer' for you too when you address a woman from an angle. Another thing you can experiment with is 'rocking out'. Rocking out means you rock your body a bit back and forth as if you're about to go on your way again, but the conversation is still going. This implies that you won't be staying for long so the other person feels more comfortable to respond.

I'm very into that "improvise" style. So like using mason jars as plant pots. Pallets as a "bed frame". I also like the style of using materials that aren't traditionally used for certain objects e.g. Clear rubber for a plant pot.

I can't persuade you and don't want to either. You like what you like, and that's the way it should be.
