Basically, when I was 20 I enlisted the military as an intelligence analyst and I finished my degree in engineering while I was in. I got out of the military and applied at a bunch of engineering companies but I didn't want to do soul crushing work like increasing the efficiency of transistor architectures. I had a buddy who got out and went to a gov't agency and he put in a good word for me. I had a degree, experience and a clearance so it wasn't that hard to get in. I also make more as an intelligence analyst than I probably could've as an engineer. I've been doing it for about 4 years now and I like it. If you don't believe me that's fine, but I'm telling the truth as I have no reason to lie on an anonymous imageboard.
