It's going to be strange, that's for sure. Patek, VC, and AP will never lower their prices, but their production numbers are still relatively low. Same with ALS. Within that category you have outliers like Richard Mille (with lots of watches available but all at prices no one would bother paying for for a used watch) and Roger Dubuis (which heavily devalues if it's not from the time when he was head of the company in the 90s to early 2000s).

Under this you have Rolex (stainless steel is the only holder of value, everything else devalues), Omega (Speedy only, everything else devalues), and the rest (which all devalue regardless). Under that you have Oris, Longines, and the rest which guarantee to devalue.

There are strange ones in the middle like Tudor, which have managed to find a way to be attractive to the up-and-coming wealthy, but the designs are of-the-moment and will age obviously (but not necessarily badly). Some Tudors hold, but most devalue since it's still a poor-man's Rolex.

Grand Seiko doesn't seem to care, nor does the market. They don't devalue that heavily, but they don't increase either.

It's the really in-depth collecting parameters that are in danger here. A correct dot-over-90 bezel used to be able to increase the price of a Speedy by 5-10K if the condition was good...but if no one cares (or if someone simply takes it into Omega servicing knowing that everything damaged will be replaced), then that value won't work on the open market.

Actually, I don't know why more people don't do this: buy the lowest price you can afford, take it into servicing, and still have a brand new watch for a fraction of what a brand-new watch would cost.

Hold on....the Breitling Cosmonaute wasn't automatic wind at the time it was used in space. I used the movement pic here: >>15865066
It's an awesome watch though...one day I might pull the trigger.

Avoid the Speedy Reduced: it uses an ETA 2824 with a Chronograph module stacked on top of it, and they're horrendous to service and their side profile is shit (the crown is lower than the pushers if you have the watch lying dial up on a table).

Nope.

You know what I hate about my smartwatch the most? I have to charge the damn thing overnight.

>>15313308
Excellent taste, but they're going up in price due to rarity. Best legibility of the 90's Seamasters, bar none.

So, he was hired for his experience and wisdom.

I'd second that with Fortis; since they used ETA and Valjoux movements, their watches are for the most part still serviceable. Granted, they can be ugly at times, but who cares if the performance is good.

>pic is still better than the Navitimer.

In this condition, definitely tough. It's a beautiful specimen though. For a long time I thought about saving up to get the last generation Sea-Dweller that was produced in the 90s, because I always thought that was the ultimate dive watch of any of them. But, my tastes changed...and I tried on a Day-Date (it looks fucking amazing on the wrist).

Watches are things, and money is everywhere if you know where to look and how to make sure people think your skills and knowledge and ability are valuable enough to trade. If you work hard and save hard, a Rolex isn't out of reach. Even a decent double-red Seadweller can be had for 40k USD. That's the average price of a car.

It all comes down to what you want to do with your money Anon, and what makes you happy.

>don't feel bad...have a Cosmonaute

If you like the aesthetic, no problem. The movements are not anything special or unique though and in this price range you have many other options. If you go vintage at this price range, better watches and more robust movements will be available to you.

Fuck...where did everyone go all of a sudden?

>>15090423
I find his watches to be dependent on his requirements...sometimes they're 'interesting', sometimes they're slightly off. Can't argue with the construction or detailing....but overall aesthetic is definitely somewhat acquired.

Yeah...It's really kind of sad though, when you think about it. What I mean is, the name is all they have. There's no real world practicality to owning one, it no longer has the impact on status that it once had for a man, and once the Chinese and the Arabs stop buying them, well....they're shit out of luck economically.

I've always wanted a Breguet...even though I think their watches are ugly as fuck. Just for the name, mind you...their history is untouchable. I've bitched and moaned about JLC Reverso here, so I'm not saying that again....who else. I love Vacheron Constantin, but only for their really simple clean watches. As for Patek...for some reason I just don't see the beauty. Maybe I need thumbs shaped like big toes like all French women...

I always do...it's the only way I can guarantee that I don't hurt anyone (not physically, but verbally). I get very direct, which most people can't handle. So, it's far better to drink alone, because then I can be happy and no one gets bothered...

That being said, I'm sure you're happy with the Slava. I've never been attracted to the Russian watches myself...though I'm sure I could understand the historical significance in them. How's it running?

Many...the most popular is probably the 24hour Breitling. I always wanted one actually.

But there are others too of course...it's as common perhaps as the tourbillon.
