So a thread a few days back basically said that because most coats are based on military coats anyway, just buy military surplus and then get the coat tailored afterwards so it doesn't look totally ill-fitted.
Since i'm poor, it's like -10 here and I have not a single fucking coat, I'm up for it and have largely chosen a coat that I want to buy. (pic related, Soviet Surplus)

That being said... how in living fuck do you actually measure yourself? by wrapping the tape around my chest I get betweend 98-100cm. What in fuck does that actually mean though when all it tells me about the size is that it is a 50?

Also does height come into it at all? I see no way of actually knowing how "tall" the jacket is.
