I'm not a watch enjoyer and I also work in finance where everybody is just wearing a rolex as a status symbol, so I choose to wear nothing rather than drop thousands on something I don't even enjoy.

Am I making a mistake? Should I buy a rolex just to fit in?
I feel if I buy anything else it just says "this guy couldn't afford a rolex"

How did people in the early 20th century keep wearing leather shoes and suits without paved roads, easy laundry or deodorant?

Maintaining leather dress shoes is already painful for me and I'm in a carpeted office already. Somehow every time I come home I see a new scuff that needs to be polished.
I think it must be the car's pedals that do it.
