I will recommend Lamy as well, but I don't like the safari ones for technical reasons.
They are by all accounts sturdy and all, very good for school (that was their purpose and probably their main market), but if you want something "techy" look at the Lamy 2000.

The design itself is something really special (designed in the 60's or 70's - the only pen that holds an exhibit at MOMA, since whenever it was created and won some art award). It's very well made and easily maintained.

Though I have German made pens that cost many, many times more than it, I find that it's really much more practical and "usable" than other pens I have, because fuck screwing caps on and off and on and off. Besides being a click on/off cap, the pen is actually designed to not dry out immediately with the cap off - good for lectures I suppose.
