After a morning of burning some light Japanese incense, I'm cranking up the intensity with Fred Soll's Frankincense & Myrrh Classic. He makes two frank & myrrh sticks: Classic and Ancient. The Classic is raw and gritty, and the Ancient is sweeter and more refined. They're both absolutely stunning. I never went to Catholic church, but I've read that these sticks--the Classic in particular--are really close to liturgical incense. That white stuff you see on the stick is pure frankincense resin, which coats the black myrrh-based resin beneath. These sticks are long and slow-burning. One of these lasts about two hours if you burn the whole thing, but I usually put it out before that to avoid olfactory fatigue
