One point more: get also involved in your college life. Depending if you're an undergrad or a postgrad try to run for some position in the JCR/MCR committee. International officer or sports officer or whatever sounds like a good fit. It's fun, quite low-commitment and you'll be a kind of recognizable college persona and around many new people other than kids from your classes.
