i prefer reading books myself, history is one of my favorite subjects, but i dont pretend to be superior to anyone. knowledge is infinitesimally less useless than sheer entertainment. the most people ever use their knowledge for is lording it over others to pat themselves on the back, as you are flattering yourself now.

it also take someone especially naive or uneducated to think that somehow this generation is somehow especially awful.
