I think you bring up some fair points, but I also think that the styling of a runway show is interfering with your ability to accurately evaluate what you're talking about. That said, I could be mistaken and maybe you have spent a ton of time trying on a lot of different designers and have still come to this conclusion.

I liked the bubble hems paired with bottoms. Adds to the silhouette in a great way.
