It's a shirt cut from the mid-late 1800s Victorian Era through the early 1900s Edwardian Era. I can understand why it might look a bit Amish. It's an antique pullover/popover shirt with pleats/plaits at the front, and a wide fit in the body compared to modern dress shirts. I like the idea of using it as a formal shirt, personally, as well as wearing it a little more casually than that, with regular suits or sports coats, sometimes with just a waistcoat and braces without a jacket.

How might you wear a shirt like this? Would you exclusively wear a pleated shirt for more formal functions, or would you adapt it with some more casual clothing, such as smart casual wear?
