But assuming there is, Yes. They're dead serious.
Why wouldn't they be? Because you don't like it? Because you can't conceive of a time and place where it might be appropriate? Because you can't trace it roots back or make sense of it? Your truth is not the only truth, and the many little details that comprise this look predate it by decades and even centuries, in some cases.
