Anyone remember when vans were really unpopular? I think it was probably the late 90s or something. My dad comes home one day and says that there's some store that just opened up at the mall selling really cheap shoes. Turns out it was a vans store and he takes the whole family out the next day to buy shoes for less than $20 per person.

I think a friend later told me about a book he read, the tipping point or something like that, and they talked about how airwalks were popular back then and vans weren't, and there was a turnaround sometime in the 2000s.
